AYA HASHIGUCHI
My artworks are rooted in the experience of the Japanese earthquake of March 11th, 2011. Five years of depicting imaginary landscapes based on the earthquake demonstrate how hard to it is escape from this subject. The aftermath of the earthquake is like tangled yarn: If the explosion of nuclear plants is the anxiety of the past, the anxiety of the future is recovery from that past.

1993年東京都出身。ニューヨーク、スクール•オブ•ビジュアルアーツ卒業後、絵画、インスタレーション、ビデオアート、詩など、様々な素材で作品を制作しています。時間、変化、純粋を主体に作品を制作しています。アートを始めた当初から、東日本大震災後の環境問題を考えることによって、見えない恐怖や違和感を色や形を通して、心理的な視点で制作しています。
